Crochet Chart Symbols

While pattern browsing the other day I found an excellent pattern that used a chart. It occured to me that while experienced crocheters were likely familiar with all the symbols, some newbies might not be. So I decided to post the symbols with their definitions here. Note that not all patterns will use the same symbols, so be sure to double-check your pattern!
